RRN pre-requisite two-day course

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a modern approach to working with individuals who present with behaviour of concern that may, at times become challenging. The NAPPI PBS Model is well established and endorsed by the OCN (London). This two-day course includes the NAPPI PBS Model and covers the mandatory requirements of a longer programme, certificated by BILD ACT, as meeting the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards.

This two-day programme covers:

Primary Prevention Strategies (6 hours) Strategies designed to improve quality of life and reduce the likelihood of behaviour of concern.

NAPPI covers this in the modules:

• Amber Section identifies reasons why an individual becomes distressed
• Green Behaviour Scale represents quality of life by highlighting the needed for meaningful activities
• Care Team Responses is where the wider team reflects upon the organisation, care team, and individual working practices to ensure quality of service delivery
• SMART Principles provide a framework of considerations when interacting or intervening with a service user who may become distressed

Secondary Prevention Strategies (3 hours)

Strategies designed to alleviate the situation and to prevent the behaviour escalating.

NAPPI covers this in the modules:

• Red Behaviour Scale provides a tool to assess the level of behaviour of concern and provide a common language of behaviour to improve both verbal and written reporting
• Intervention Scale provides clarity regarding the levels of restrictiveness within our approach

Non-restrictive Tertiary strategies (3 hours)

Strategies to bring about resolution and a return to safety for everyone.

NAPPI covers this in the self-protection physical skills:

• X-Shield skill to protect from blows
• Grab Release to release from unwanted grabs e.g. wrist, clothing
• Guiding to move someone who is uncooperative (but non-restrictive)

Cost:

£245.00 + VAT per person.

£195.00 + VAT for three or more places.
