The NAPPI Positive Behaviour Support Model (Level 1 – Foundation Level) training, has been successfully Peer Reviewed to the grade of Silver.

A silver grading is granted when “the criteria is fully met (already at 100%)”.

The PBS Peer Review Project has been running since 2019 where it initially started as a pilot. It is currently being further being developed by Skills for Care and the organisations involved in the peer review process. The overall aim is to ensure that high quality PBS training is available for organisations, either providing in-house training, or when commissioned from training providers.

It is a voluntary scheme, with those involved working in a way that is helpful and co-operative, exercising a useful balance of challenge and support. It provides a viable, self-sustaining quality assurance scheme, that can be trusted and accepted by private, independent, individual, voluntary and statutory employers. All assessments, self-assessments and judgements will be reached by discussion between the reviewers and reviewees. Where necessary, Skills for Care will act as a mediator in any discussions.

The training assessed was a 6-hour Remote delivery of the NAPPI PBS Model; however, the assessors commented, “We could visualise with learners how this training would transfer into a face to face session as well”.

Comments from the assessors included:

“[The trainer] was enthusiastic, very knowledgeable showing enthusiasm and passion for PBS which should inspire learners to go away and implement their learning”.

 “We felt that the high level of active engagement kept the learners engaged throughout, which is a credit to her [the trainer] when this was online.”

 “The activities have plenty of time to discuss and then the feedback and further discussion was of benefit and supported learning and ensuring everyone understood each section.”

 “Learning checks were continuous throughout the training and we felt having the objectives for each are that were checked at the end before moving on, worked very well.”
